“Your own Self-Realization is the greatest service you can render the world.”
~ Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi, Indian Hindu sage
39. Princess Charming – I take the horse by the reins and become my own Princess Charming, taking care of my own needs.
I was pondering what question to ask for this lunar cycle around the theme of “Awakening”, as awakening can relate to waking up to our true power, to love or wisdom.
I was guided then just to simply ask what the message of awakening was for all of us this lunar cycle. And voila, this beautiful yet strong and powerful card appeared.
The message from this card points to the awakening of our divine power, love and wisdom, and we are the ones who hold the key to this process.
We are the saviors of our own lives. If we want to see any changes happening in our lives, we must first be the change. If we expect someone or something else outside of us to save us, then we are giving our true power and authority away. That’s when we experience disappointments, betrayals and heartbreaks because of this unrealistic expectation we place on others.
The woman in the card exudes calmness, confidence and radiance. She has a very clear idea of what she wants in her life and she sets a very clear intention. It doesn’t mean that she expects everything to go as her plan. She first sets her intention clearly, and she then lets the Universe take the course. She is open to receive and knows that the Universe always supports her with what she needs for her highest good. She surrenders herself to the wisdom of the Universe.
Princess Charming can receive help and support from others too, whether it’s from the physical or spiritual realm. She is a wise leader who knows how to delegate. She knows that she doesn’t need to do everything by herself. True strength comes from within. Knowing how to vulnerable is not a sign of weakness but an act of courage to stay true to who you are.
During this lunar cycle, it is important to get clarity on what you want to create and prioritize in your life. Mercury retrograde from September 27 to October 23 gifts us a perfect opportunity to look within and ask our hearts and Soul what intentions we want to set clearly for this month.
This is the time to create a deeper connection and to communicate more intimately with our heart and Soul. What is that you truly desire, as the character Lucifer Morningstar loves to say in “Lucifer” the TV show?
Do you honor your desires, or do you carry shame or guilt from your desires so you cast them away in the shadows? Have you been shamed by others when you share your desires, and your heart shuts down as a result?
With what I understand from the tantric yoga perspective, or the path of the Goddess, desires are only a gateway for us to truly understand and experience bliss. The problem does not lie with the desire itself but the attachment to our desires.
In the book “Meditation secrets for Women” by Camille Maurine and Lorin Roche, they explain so elegantly as below,
It is time to awaken to your true power within and this is through an intimate communication with all parts of your Self, whether it’s your ego self, your feminine and masculine self, or your Divine self. It is time to let go of any shame and guilt you carry from yourself and others.
One thing to take note of the image of this card is the white scratch marks. Though this may not be the intention of the artist and it can be due to the quality of the image scan, they remind me of stretch marks that I have.
I remember the first time when I was pregnant, I did everything I could to prevent stretch marks, because I knew that once they appeared there was no going back. I thought I was doing well until my husband told me mid-pregnancy that I had stretch marks under my belly – I just couldn’t see them because my belly became so huge.
This time around with my second pregnancy I couldn’t care less about stretch marks because I already have them. Of course I still rub oil on my belly to keep the skin nourished, but I don’t feel ashamed or ugly from my stretch marks anymore.
In fact, after giving birth to my first son I couldn’t care less if I had stretch marks on my belly or not, since I don’t really wear bikinis or need to show other people my belly. The stretch marks were part of what pregnancy was about and I got the best reward from this whole process – my son.
To me, the scratches on the image remind us that we do not need to be perfect. Being our own Princess Charming does not mean we have to be a perfect mom, perfect wife, daughter, boss, friend, partner, sister, etc. Our imperfections are what make us unique and there is no shame in that. It doesn’t mean that we can then be complacent and stop growing and evolving. It means to embrace all parts of yourself, all of your desires no matter how crazy, embarrassing, or dark they seem to you.
May you create a deeper and more intimate connection with your desires this lunar cycle. May you awaken to your true power, love and wisdom within.
You’ve got this, Princess and Prince Charmings!
Instead of providing a sample affirmation for you this lunar cycle, since the word “awakening” is very personal to each individual, this is a great opportunity to come up with your own affirmation. What is it that you want to awaken to? Or learn more?
Sometimes it may not be so easy to identify what it is that we want to awaken to. Pay attention to what your current blocks or obstacles are and what lessons they are showing you. Pay attention to your desires and see where they lead you to.
An affirmation is a positive statement that usually starts with “I am” or “I + verb”. It is one way to help us set a clear intention and also a verbal reminder to focus on what we can do instead of what we cannot.
Below are some guidelines to help you form your own affirmation:
1. Always form the sentence in present tense.
There is no moment like the present. Instead of making it future-focused, like “I will” or “I am going to”, or “I try to”, “I want to”, make it in the NOW even if you feel like you are not there yet. This helps us to bring the focus to the present moment and it makes the affirmation much more powerful.
2. Avoid negative words.
Instead of focusing on what you don’t want, turn your focus on what you want to create in your life.
3. Feel the emotions.
It’s important that you really feel the emotions behind your affirmation to give it an energetic “oomph”. Your affirmation has to feel 100% aligned to where you are now in your life.
What I find personally is that sometimes I start with one to two affirmations at the beginning of the lunar cycle. Then I may add a couple more sentences later. It’s not something that is set in stone. You can adjust and fine tune the wording of your affirmation as the days go, so just start with whatever you come up with first.
You can write your affirmation on a piece of paper, or decorate it or make it an art piece, and place it somewhere that you can see all the time. For me, it’s my meditation altar. Common suggestions are sticky notes on your mirror, fridge, window, wall, or even your water jug (so the vibration of your affirmation also imprints into your drinking water).
Have fun with it and see what unfolds.

I recognize that my interpretation of the cards is largely based on reflections of my personal life experience and you may or may not resonate with what I share. I find that sometimes by sharing what’s going on in my life, others may find that they are going through something similar in their lives. It’s important to know that you are not going through this journey of life alone.
I highly encourage you to look at the cards as well and feel into the messages and energies of the cards yourself.
Read the messages and notice what sensations come up. Do you feel light or tense? Look at the images of the cards, and notice what draws your gaze. What thoughts and feelings arise? Do you like or dislike the card, or certain elements in the image of the card? Why is that and what does it remind you of?
Your intuition is your inner compass. My intuitive soul card reading only serves as a reference point, an invitation for you to reflect and ponder and to work your magic. I don’t claim to predict the future, nor can I do that. Take what you resonate and leave what you don’t.
Card reading is a great intuitive tool for us to find some clarity and guidance in our own life, but remember ultimately you are the one who get to decide and live the life you want.
Enjoy reading and feel free to let me know your thoughts, questions and sharing by email.
