“Speech has power. Words do not fade.
What starts out as a sound, ends in a deed.”
~ Abraham Joshua Herschel, Polish-born American rabbi and Jewish philosopher
28. Power of My Voice – I speak my truth and express my feelings to others with care and compassion.
I absolutely love this card as it reconfirms where I am on my own spiritual journey now. Recently I have just completed a Bhakti Yoga online course with my amazing teacher Heidi Trigar. Bhakti Yoga is known as the “Yoga of Devotion”. What draws me into Bhakti Yoga is the chanting. When I chant mantras or sing along kirtans, I can feel an inpour and outpour of unconditional love surrounding me and emanating from within me. To me, it is a direct experience with the Divine, a pure Love and grace that accepts, embraces, and supports me all.
I’m not saying you have to sing to experience the Divine (you can!). This card is showing us that the words we choose to speak (or not speak) are already an experience of the Divine.
Almost in all creation myths from various cultures and religions, the Universe is first created with a sound/ vibration, whether it is the sound “Om”, the Big Bang, or God said “Let There Be Light”.
We all have this creator energy within us. When we speak, we are essentially creating and shaping how our outer reality will look like.
The research from Dr. Masaru Emoto from his book “The Message from Water” also reconfirms this. Dr. Emoto took photos of how water crystals looked like when water was exposed to different types of vibrations, such as music, words, photos and thoughts. Not surprisingly, when he placed a glass of water on top of the phrase “you are dirty” and another glass of water on the top of the phrase “you are beautiful”, the water crystal photos differed significantly.
The “you are beautiful” water crystal formed a perfect hexagonal shape, very close to what clean natural spring water looked like. The “you are dirty” water crystal couldn’t form a shape properly. Below I will link Dr. Emoto’s free children’s version of “The Message from Water”, and I highly encourage you to read more about his research.
Because our bodies are at least 70% water, one can imply that when we speak kind words to ourselves and to others, we are “creating” beautiful water crystals within. Of course we cannot prove this as we can’t freeze the water inside our body, but I hope you can see the implications of the power of our words.
When we are speaking from our heart and soul space, we are expressing our authenticity. Truth, with a capital “T”, always comes from a space of unconditional love, kindness, and compassion. It is not the same as our own personal truth, subjective to our ego’s perspective.
Practice speaking your truth first to yourself. To me, journaling is a great spiritual practice to have a honest conversation with your inner self. There is no need to judge or analyze anything you write, just write what comes up to your mind. Whatever you feel, write, express, you honor it all.
Speaking our truth requires us to be vulnerable sometimes. Even when I was attending the Bhakti Yoga training and the entire experience was amazing, there were days when I felt tired, down, frustrated, scared, and many other emotions coming up. My teacher would always check in with everyone when the class started, and I was so relieved to hear that I wasn’t the only one feeling this way.
When you speak your truth, you invite others to speak up too. You become a lighthouse in this vast ocean to shed light in this darkness. Those who feel drawn to your words and your vibration are part of your soul family, tribe, soul sisters and brothers, and community. And those who don’t resonate, just let them float away.
Your truth when spoken is the piercing light that shines through all layers of darkness.
Below is an excerpt from the book “The Circle Way – A Leader In Every Chair” by Christina Baldwin and Ann Linnea. They share some self-monitoring questions for us to check in with the way how we express ourselves may impact others in a group setting. I find that these questions are also helpful to reflect on in our daily life whether we are speaking to ourselves or others.
- “Is this an appropriate moment of receptivity?
- Am I speaking from competition or collaboration?
- What is my body telling me?
- How does what I want to do or say benefit where the group is?
- How do I phrase my contribution in neutral language and still speak my ‘truth’?
- Can I say this with integrity without disturbing the integrity of the group?”
Repeat this affirmation as often as you need during this lunar cycle. A great tip is to write your affirmation on a piece of paper and place it somewhere you can see everyday as a reminder.
Feel free to change the words to make it 100% aligned to you.
For example,
I acknowledge the power of my voice.
I speak my truth.
I have the courage to express myself.
My voice is powerful.
I trust my voice.
I allow my voice to be heard.

I recognize that my interpretation of the cards is largely based on reflections of my personal life experience and you may or may not resonate with what I share. I find that sometimes by sharing what’s going on in my life, others may find that they are going through something similar in their lives. It’s important to know that you are not going through this journey of life alone.
I highly encourage you to look at the cards as well and feel into the messages and energies of the cards yourself.
Read the messages and notice what sensations come up. Do you feel light or tense? Look at the images of the cards, and notice what draws your gaze. What thoughts and feelings arise? Do you like or dislike the card, or certain elements in the image of the card? Why is that and what does it remind you of?
Your intuition is your inner compass. My intuitive soul card reading only serves as a reference point, an invitation for you to reflect and ponder and to work your magic. I don’t claim to predict the future, nor can I do that. Take what you resonate and leave what you don’t.
Card reading is a great intuitive tool for us to find some clarity and guidance in our own life, but remember ultimately you are the one who get to decide and live the life you want.
Enjoy reading and feel free to let me know your thoughts, questions and sharing by email.
